Our Celtic Culture can be defined and measured quite simply

A Celt respects all life forms and will constantly measure their own lives from their interactions with nature.

A Celt will celebrate his/her interconnectivity with his/her natural environment at every opportunity

Celt will take particular pleasure in expressing and sharing his/her interconnectivity with nature with friends, family and/or communities . . using music – dance and other forms of creative mechanisms

This Celt defintion is completly inclusive - it stems from our ancesters and is a simple life philosophy that is not constrained by religious or political ideals -

Our Celtic culture is deep and meaningful-although it is interpreted in different ways, the old style traditional Celt who preferes to assimilate tradition in a step by step manner and the Celt who chooses to simply live his/her life as close to nature as possible adhering to our life philosphy.

In many cases the opportunity to live a true and harmonious lifestyle has been constrained, typically because of the demands of modern life, the leaps in technological advances and the distractions of the economic system.  The war years coupled with the industrial ages have indeed affected many of the communities of Europe and beyond, the desire to ‘pick up the pieces’ and create a better world for our future generations accelerated an unconscious movement towards an unsustainable lifestyle.   However we can now act- we can re-evaluate ourselves and our actions and we most certainly can find the Celt that lives in each and everyone of us-  If you relate in any way to the three points above then feel empowered and know that every individual on this planet also has faith in such a life approach- it will eventually all lead us to sustainable development and a harmonious lifestyle.

Although we like to celebrate our interconnectivity with nature whenever possible- you may like to interpret this as taking the necessary actions that will ensure that we remember how to be (i) happy with ourselves (ii) happy with each other and (iii) happy with our environments that provide for our existence. However, there are other important reasons for celebrations..

Our Celtic calender is apportioned accordingly to points in time that would be extremely significant should we ever be without technology and become reliant on our natural environment for food, light and shelter.  These are aligned to phases of the sun and the moon and to ensure that these phases were not forgotten our ancestors left us with a legacy of tradition, folklore and meeting places to enable the information to be passed down through the ages.

This legacy needs to be understood and appreciated for what they are truly meant to represent if we are all to begin our movement towards a sustainable future for ourselves and our next generations.
