Shock for Celtic Heritage Trust volunteers on Beach Clean up !!

Yes indeed- the Celtic Heritage Trust and the RETHINK project fully equipped with black sacks and litter picking tools went out with 15 young individulas on last weekend of September to clean up the Gwithian Beach in Cornwall-this was in a fully signwritten COMMUNITY minibus-

To our horror the NATIONAL TRUST demanded payment for the use of the beach car park even though it was 'clear' that we were on a beach clearing mission, the representative STATED that the NATIONAL TRUST was PRIVATE business and everybody must pay- I beg to ask ' was the NATIONAL TRUST not given these lands to look after them for the good of the people? Our Project Manager stated that' the National Trust is communicating potentially the WRONG message to the future custodians of the landscapes' and 'I was disgusted that a National Trust representative would happily convey this message in front of 15 under 16 year olds all of which are local to the area'.
